I think it's a misconception that any gas will "clean" your fuel system. What the detergents actually will do is keep your system cleaner for longer if you started there w/ a clean system, but over time will still have build-up that might need to be cleaned at some point in the vehicle's life.

 

So what ??
No vehicle older than about 2017 was marked for E15 because it really didn't exist in the market before that.

 

About all that proves is that you wasted a significant amount of money on "services" that probably did nothing useful.
AND....in one of your previous posts, you claimed to have used E15 for "years".....when it hasn't been available "for years".
AND.....you commented on E15 being significantly cheaper when it is NOT.
I don't consider a couple of cents to be significant. Many places I've seen E15 and E10 at the same price.

I think you are confused, about several things.

 

2013 Volt lists it in the manual

Wisconsin has had blender stations since the early 2000’s providing you whatever ethanol percentage you want

Early e15 was 90 octane, things have changed a lot over the years

 

Now Sam, I've always liked how you stir the pot around here. Lots of people give you a rash of crap - for sure. But on this one, I'm going to disagree with you. First off my Prius C is a 2016 - and it's marked with E15 as acceptable use right on the gas cap.

If you look at the sticker on the gas pump - well here, let me copy paste one.

Right on the label itself says 2001 - so it's been around that long and while my memory is crap, I can tell you that we've had it here for several years. Stations started popping up with it way back...Now it's literally everywhere here and I can think of only 1 station in my town that doesn't carry it. While it may not be recommended for your vehicle to burn a fuel with that much Ethanol - it will at least tolerate it. Because it's Federally mandated by the Feds that it do so.

I also posted this question before to my brother & my son - both of whom are master technicians. (Brother GM / Son Honda) They both said E15 won't harm your car. Might make it hard to start when warm if it's not a recommended fuel, but it won't harm it and it's not going to eat any seals in your fuel system. As for it's price - you stated in a reply to another member that it's a couple cents difference or the same price as E10. Maybe in your location? Here it's typically 8-10 cents cheaper a gallon. Last Saturday I filled up and it was 15 cents cheaper a gallon.

I missed the mark with that comment. Happens sometimes.

The main point WAS and still IS that ethanol is not a really good fuel system cleaner, no matter what the concentration.
And suggesting that people who don't have Flex Fuel vehicles mess around with E85 is NOT good advice.

 

The first part about all of the "snake oil" services that he paid for WAS directed at HIM.
