There is a guy that is hitting 100 different cities with one so people can look at it in person and even a test drive. If anyone is interested I can get the Facebook link to his page.

one of the people in our tesla group (non-employee/non-affiliate) took his M3 delivery up in Fremont just a few days ago, & did a drive down to the beach areas, on his way out towards Palm Springs, then on to his San Diego home. He published where his stops would be for those who wanted to check it out. We're up freezing our buns in Montana right now so we missed our 1st window of opportunity.

More bad & good news! Another group member (Dennis P) will take delivery of their model 3 this Saturday & are providig a viewing between 10:30 & 1:30 Dec 31st at the OC Farmers Market - parking lot just south of the market stalls (it used to be the El Toro Marine Base). I read there are 75 RSVPs so far - so likely a bunch of other teslas too. We be stuck here - 1,250 miles away - till the day after ....
Anyone in the area can take a gander if they're so enclined .....
Woo hooo anyway! - they're coming faster!

    That is awesome!
A friend of mine took delivery last week. He then drove back to Minnesota for the holidays.
Yesterday we had lunch and he gave me his impressions and a close look :)
I was a lot more patient about my upcoming order before that day!

When are you expecting yours? May just need to take a trip up to the Cities to see it after you get it. :)

Since I haven’t had the invite to configure yet, I am guessing February or March. You would be more than welcome :)

Model 3 in the wild - sighting today - my very first!
Got a loaner car - for while the service center works on the better ½'s car. Stopped at the nearby supercharger to fill the loaner.
    Lookie what pulls in, just a couple minutes later;

Should have walked over & asked the gal a bunch of questions, but thought that might be too creepy.
It was just like all the pictures ... It made for a great morning.

If that wasn't fun enough, I started looking through the menus and discovered they loaned me a ludicrous sedan -

    Woohoo!
The rest of this year obviously we'll be anti-climatic.

Remember the better half gets the loaner since her car is the one being serviced. :D

The bad news is the ramp on the model 3 is not going well. We sort of knew it might not be.

Now they are at a run rate of 1000 per week although they delivered probably less than 1000 model 3s in december, so that may be optimistic. Tesla is now planning on hitting 2500/week by end of q1, and 5000/week by end of q2 (was previously end of q1).

There are a couple of bright spots to this. The battery pack manufacturing problem seems to have given the rest of tesla time to work on initial quality, and panel gaps and other minor things seem to be getting improved. This will not be lexus quality fit and finish, but it looks like initial model 3 owners will not have the quality problems initial model X owners had.

Tesla might manage US sales so that it does not hit the 200,000 mark domestically until the beginning of q2. That would give the full tax credit to those buying through the end of q3, with half tax credit in q4.

My guess is tesla will only sell long range model 3s in q1 of this year, but will allow people to buy the smaller pack in q2. The slower ramp means they can force people to buy more expensive options. That isn't good for tesla or the costomers, but it seems like we are finally on a ramp for mainstream bev. Nissan will have its 60kwh leaf out when the tesla loses full tax credits, and the bolt will sell well for the first half of the year.

This is probably true if - you get the premium package and long range pack, otherwise I think its much longer. I definitely would not bet on only 300 days for new orders wanting a standard pack.

I'm hoping I can get a dual motor standard pack in september. Fingers are crossed.

Funny thing is.... the people at the beginning of the Model Y waitlist might get them sooner than some on Model 3 waitlist. It is almost certain Model Y waitlist will start this summer and be out by late 2019.

Elon said he will unveil the truck in 2019 after unveiling the Y.

I'm extremely confident that if you put a reservation down on the exact same day for the 3 and the Y that you would get the 3 many months ahead of the Y.

I would be extremely surprised if the Y does. They are VERY complicated and can break often. That isn't the kind of thing you want on a mass market vehicle. If they do have them they won't be as complicated as the X.

After the debacle that the falcon wing doors caused for delays on the Model X, I doubt they'll want them for the Y, even though Elon Musk said the 3 or the Y would likely have them on twitter a few years back.

That's why they had to go fairly simple, design-wise, for the 3, to avoid a repeat of that, and to make it easier to assemble and get more production out for their first mass market car.
