Elon announced earlier today that they produced 5000 Model 3s and 2000 MS/MX for a total 7000 cars produced last week in Fremont! This is a great day for Tesla. Elon and his staff and his employees and us fanboys will be eating steak this 4th of July. The naysayers and short sellers will be eating.......crow. The short sellers lost $2 billion on Tesla last month! This is the same Fremont factory where Toyota could only achieve a maximum build of 6000 per week after years of trying.

Nothing like holding back! BTW Tesla old factory, was producing close to 450,000 vehicles annually when it was run by GM and Toyota.

Nothing in that disputes the claim of finishing at 5am on Sunday. Not that it matters much anyhow. This is around 250% of what they made in the last week of Q1. Those two weeks would be an apples to apples comparison, as Tesla was doing everything possible to make as many cars in one week both times, sustainable or not.

Can't wait to see the Q2 financial results!

Back then NUMMI was just a vehicle assembly plant. As another poster liked pointing out, Tesla makes many of their parts in house, and at least some of those production facilities are within the Fremont plant.

    ^The latter wouldn't be a stretch to believe. ;) :X

Seems Elon wants to up the ante to 7k by August (10k by December?).

The Model Y will be the hatchback version of the Model 3.

I'm starting a rumor that the Model Y will do away with the controversial touch screen in the Model 3. All functions of the car will be controlled by voice recognition. :)

The reveal, as I recall, is next March. Reservations may be open at that time. No clue about production.

My guess is that pictures (and perhaps a mock-up) will begin to emerge in the next 6 months with pre-orders beginning sometime in 2019. I am guessing starting price point will be around $50K for a 6 passenger version with around 350 miles range. The user interface will continue to be a central feature with more and more voice commands added to all Tesla vehicles through OTA improvements.
