Yes, I bought a Prius because it is identifiable as a hybrid. Here in Australia most people seem to have the attitude that emissions reduction is a government responsibility. My wife and I bike, walk, or run to places whenever it is convenient and telecommute at times. We have solar hot water and are considering a solar elctricity system connected to the grid. We are very conscious of our overall energy usage. Obviously, if everyone did the same thing here and in other developed countries there would be an enormous reduction in oil use and emissions. Whatever my motives and however smug I feel (and I do) the effect is that I am doing something, while others sit on their hands waiting for "government" to fix the problems. Grumpy
