Attached photo from member on Facebook Prius Prime Owners group. Prime being charged is being considered as the cause. Looks like incident happened 24 Apr 2019. Everyone in house OK. Any NE members have any additional info? Video is from local news. To me, around 21 second mark you can see the Prime in the driveway but another car in the garage. Hmm.

WOW! Yeah, the car that looks like PRIME was outside on the driveway. As far as I can see, it does not look a charge cord is attached to the charge port. If it's not connected to EVSE, how can it be the cause of fire? Even if the fire started in the car on driveway, I can't imagine it spreads onto the house the way shown on video.

I watched the clip but didn't pick up any connection to car charging- the anchor just mentioned that there were two cars in the driveway.

You can't assume a car is not the cause of a fire just because it isn't plugged in. Too many unknowns. From Ray's attached still it looks like they properly secured the incident area so somebody can do a proper investigation. Hopefully that goes well.

Invite all to venture over to Facebook. Search for "Prius Prime Owners". Two separate members - one that is local firefighter (Steve) and another that knows the family (Maryann) - claim the Prime is the prime suspect.

Plenty of car fires have started from faulty switches and wiring harnesses.

Likes like baseless speculation to me. I saw a house and 2 cars (one being a Prime) on fire. Any of those could be the source and with the cars in the driveway rather than the garage, I'd think the source was the house first.
