Ok so Friday I started my trip from Virginia to California in my 2011 Prius. Only one week after changing the engine. A day after changing the engine I had the check engine light come on. It turned out to be the A/F sensor I thought that was weird because if was never a problem with either engine before the swap. I tried them both and both made the check engine light come on. In a last ditch effort I soaked what I thought was the better of the two in gas for 6 hours. It was good for a day or two so I thought I fixed it. On my way to Indianapolis the light came on again. I called ahead to Indianapolis and the dealer said they could have it in by 9 the next morning. I wasn’t going to leave until 10 so that worked out and gave me time to change it before I left. Well the next day it was raining like crazy so I pressed on without changing it to Iowa. Swapped it in the parking lot an hour after arriving and problem solved.

I’m averaging 46.5 mpg so far with just al title over 2K on the trip. It was doing better but the hills/mountains of West Virginia and the South Dakota 80 mph speed limit has brought it down a little. I think this is not bad consider I have two passengers and all of have a large suitcase and essentials to live until my household goods arrive in about two months.

Just wanted to know if 46.5 is reasonable consider the weight in the car and the terrain.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I think it's pretty normal. I drove from central NC to West Palm Beach in the wintertime and went the same speeds as everyone else (75-85) and still got 47.5 for the trip. Around home I ave 52 for comparison.

    Ok thanks everyone!

    I can’t believe the a/f sensor cost over $200!

Quick update, I arrived in Reno, NV today logged a little over 3K on the odometer and had an MPG of 47.1. I’m pretty happy with the car considering I just changed the engine a little under two weeks ago.
