I'm not looking to do a lot, but what are the most worthwhile accessories to add to a new Prius (2013 Two)?

I'm going to add floor mats, and I want to get a dash cover to start (essential in my book).

What are reliable places to find good stuff at a good price?

I found these on JuicedHybrid, but I don't know if I should shop elsewhere. Amazon isn't being all that helpful with reviews of products that fall in this category.

Well, that answers my question as to if the Prius would support an HID system. I figured it should since I have them on my motorcycle with no issues.

Consider the dash mat carefully. Most will generate some pretty bad reflection on the windshield. Darkest color and "un-shiny" fabric are recommended.

I have one on my pickup truck (tan). I do understand the "reflection" factor, although I never found it to be that bad. Of course, the angle of the Prius' windshield will be different. It's a gray interior, so I'd suspect it shouldn't be bad.

I've sworn by these things since it seems every vehicle I have has dash problems over time from UV exposure. I know my truck has UV treatment on all windows, and my dash mat is faded and "thinning" after I last ran it through the wash IN SPITE OF that UV protection.

You need the complete HID system- transformer, ballast and HID bulbs. The only part that is kept from the OEM system is the power connector.

If I could make a suggestion- if you're going to go the HID route- go with a 55 watt system (versus the common 35 watt ebay systems) and 4.3K bulbs. The Prius uses a projector lens system- so it requires a specially made bulb to prevent ground shadows from the return wire.

Do you have a link to these type of HID's you talk about?

I went with one from DDM Tuning with the motorcycle. Their slim ballast fit well on the motorcycle (although finding a place to tuck the wires was some work). They were an excellent deal now that the tech has come way down in price since HIDs first came out.

$49.95 (each) if spec to 55w - H11 - 4,500K. I presume the Prius has separate high and low beam bulbs.

Ordered the dash cover, euro mud flaps and floor mats. Got 15% by hunting for a coupon too. :D

It's not an "accessory" per se, like the HID upgrade, but IMO the horn upgrade is a must.

What's wrong with the stock horn? It sounds fine to me, and loud.

If you are satisfied with the OEM horn, then great. ;)

It just seems more appropriate for a bumper car or golf cart IMO.

Maybe Toyota changed it with my 2013? because my horn does not sound nearly as bumper car-ish as my 2000 Honda Civic. I was pleasantly surprised with the Prius horn when comparing the two.

I agree except WeatherTech floor and trunk trays are much nicer, I have leather, I don't need winter tires. Definitely get a better GPS. The Toyota GPS really is aweful.

Listen to the horn in the video of the first post of evpc's horn upgrade thread. Link in my signature below to see (hear) if it is the same.

mediahound, When Parked or driving low-speed, yes the OEM does the job, try using your horn on the fwy, whole different story. I also changed out my 2013 Prius Horns, I barley hear oem once on the fwy.
I upgraded to Super Tone Horns, see xliderider linky then no more "meep-meep~!!" If you ok oem thats fine too.

    simple of SuperTone horns
