    This is my newly purchased 2006 with a thrown rod, this will be my first Prius experience, like I haven't even driven one. I've got a lot of experience working on just about anything mechanical and electrical. I thought I'd post the engine swap along with pictures to help anybody else that might want to tackle this. This is also my second build thread. I completed a Porsche 911 LS3 engine swap about 2yrs ago and if you would like to check it out look here, Well Maybe not since it won't let me post a link yet, will try later.

    This is the hole in the bottom of crankcase, 220,000mi,one owner car, oil changed regularly till he gave it to his daughter maybe, don't think she checked it as often when it started to burn it around 160,000

    Using a motorcycle jack centered on motot/Tranny more then the frame, used wood as shims to distribute load off the center mount and more on Motor/tranny, worked great. did it by myself an inch at a time

    I haven't bought an engine yet. Does anybody know if the newer engine long blocks would be a direct bolt in?

    Quick battery Question, I was told this battery was replaced under warranty around the 160,000mi mark, Is there a date on it somewhere to see how old it is?

    Also since the car was sitting and moved a little under battery power, is there a way to get it fully charge for storage till I get car back together? Maybe take it to a dealer to charge?

    @TMR-JWAP, @ericbecky or @2k1Toaster would know. I believe you need to take off the top cover and interpret the date codes on the individual modules.

    There is apparently a serial number on the outside, but module dates are more accurate.

    The dealer would need to get in a special charger. A Prolong battery reconditioning system from Hybrid Automotive may be a good investment. @jeff652 is quite active here.

    Did you pull the engine up-and-over the radiators, or just remove the radiators, bumper, assorted beams/brackets and whatever else's in front, bring the engine out through the front. Just looking at this picture it looks like there's precious little in front of the engine:

    Or is that just crazy talk? I've only ever heard of people taking it out by going up or down, not forward.

    Not possible to remove front and pull fwd. I dropped out the bottom, now I'll take the rear off jack stands and raise the body with a engine hoist and 5000lbs cargo strap and roll it out. pictures will follow soon

    I was just reading an older post on removing the Tranny from several years ago and ALL the pictures are gone. Why did that happen? and am I posting mine correctly so they won't disappear later on?

    Very early on, I believe an update to PriusChat software broke many threads. @Tideland Prius can verify.

    Many people used the free Photobucket service. They recently decided to chrage for this, holding the photos as hostage. Many people went elsewhere and the photos are now broken. The original Firebrid thread was one that was broken. Bill uploaded all the photos to PriusChat and started a new tread. The moderators said it would be too difficult to fix the broken images in the old thread.

    It appears your images are hosted on PriusChat and should be OK.

    The black and white sticker on the top of the battery has a serial number. The first letter should be H (indicating a Prius, iirc) the next 2 are the day of the month. The next is the month (1-9, x,y,z) the next is year code. L=2008, M=2009, N=2010 and so on. On module serial numbers, L=2010 and so on.
