Well--how far will my Prime go? We are up to almost 10,000 miles and the first big service. About 250,000 more miles to go--fingers crossed!

You are beating be by a few miles. Lol. I have just a tick under 9000. Am prepping to get winter tires (blizzaks to be specific) when the time comes. Happy driving!

Out for pizza tonight and taking advantage of the free ChargePoint station. Life is awesome, and so is The Prime!

I'm planning to retire in about a year, so the mileage will slow down significantly at that time....

Happy retirement. Maybe you will take long trips that will put far more miles than your daily commute now.

ED12548F-B4B2-4C46-A1F1-2BAC21476482.jpeg Well, here we are at the Toyota dealer for the 15,000 mile service. All is well—no issues with this car whatsoever (knock on wood LOL). Love it love it love it!

The service tech did tell me about a recall though. Something about the sonar sensors needing a software update. I’ll know more after I get the service receipt.

My charged range is about 30 miles in mild weather, and 26 when it’s colder (below 32). My commute is about half start and stop, and the other is steady at about 50 mph—about 10 miles one way to work.

Still on my trek for 250,000 miles! Steady as she goes! Safe travels my friends!

Really enjoying this thread!!! I fear it will cost me $30K+ in the coming months!

Your prime seems spotless with every beautiful picture! Do you wash it everyday???

Thanks so much for taking us along in your prime adventures!!! So glad to hear the vehicle is awesome.

I just had mine in for its first oil change and they told me no recalls at this time. I wonder what gives.

How many times have you pulled your dipstick?
    What's your EV percentage?

The reason that I ask is that many many people used to intend to knock down 250,000 miles in their G3's before the 'change owner' light illuminated at 100-120,000 miles.
    See also:
    Blown Headgasket.
    Dirty EGR.
    etc...
The best predictor of whether or not you will encounter this problem is found on page 37 of your Warranty and Maintenance Guide:

    https://www.toyota.com/toyota-owners-theme/too/images/manuals-warranty/hd-images/pdf-icon.png

    IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE
    INFORMATION

It is especially important to both
routinely check your vehicle’s engine oil
level (once a month) and regularly
replace the engine oil and oil filter (see
the Maintenance Log section of this
booklet to determine how often you
should change your vehicle’s oil and
filter). Failure to do so can cause oil
starvation and or oil gelling, which can
result in severe damage to your vehicle
and require costly repairs that are not
covered by the New Vehicle Limited
    Warranty.

They bolded it because it's somewhat important, and because they wanted to be able to refer back to it in say......5-8 years or so.

Note that this is a monthly check regardless of mileage.
Way back in the 2010s when Priuses were wireless, this used to be a 1,000 mile or monthly check.
now that Priuses have close to a real-world EV range, it's technically possible to rack up 5,000 vehicle miles without running the ICE very much, which leaves people with the false impression that all you have to do to "take care of your car" is to take it to the dealer every 5,000 miles and pay for somebody else to perform your maintenance.
For your vehicles early, formative years, this is not necessarily true.

If you read the service manual and have been doing the monthly checks since April, then CONGRATULATIONS!
    You're on your way!

You've already knocked down about five percent of your vehicles designed life-cycle, and patterns are already emerging.
You're already as protective of your vehicle's health as you are of it's appearance, AND you're just about dead-bang guaranteed to celebrate your Lunar Mileage Award in about a dozen years......cheaply and reliably.

    Otherwise.....

    GOOD LUCK!
    ;)

    Great!
    That was the intent... ;)

The Prime is a GOOD car.
If you take good care of it and you have a just a smidgen of good luck (oil checks don't stop cell phone drivers) you will celebrate 250 - easy as pie.

    AND!!!!
You will save money while doing so, and not have to wait by the side of the road for AL The Tow Truck Driver.
Since you're a frequent visitor of your dealer's service department's waiting room and since they never have good entertainment options, go through that maintenance guide some more.

There's a lot of good information there - and it will save you a lot of money as well when your service advisor starts wanting you to pay for stuff.....;)
You can help your fellow Prius drivers out there by either advocating for a dealer that's NOT up-charging you for maintenance checks that do not appear in your maintenance schedule - or warning us about one that DOES.

    Either way?
    GOOD LUCK!!

Start learning about L2 home charging.
Your next car might have a bigger battery - and if the EVangelists are right, those free charging stations are going to start filling up!

Hopefully something to do with the heavy rain and “clean sensors” issue. I don’t think we’ve seen a resolution to that yet.

Exactly--my car has the "clean sensors" issue. I agree with you--hopefully this is the fix....
