My backup cam stayed on after going into drive

So, to get out of a parking spot I had to go into reverse, then put it into drive, got onto the freeway with my Prius v three and then looked down at the screen and the backup camera was still on. It clicked back to my ipod or nav or whatever after another minute or so on it's own. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen, or if there's an easier way than doing technical modifications to make it happen? Probably not, just thought it was interesting and was wondering if someone techier than myself had an explanation.
