I, too, can't wait to see if there's a real MPG upward trend over the next couple of tanks. If so I'm going to have developed some serious rimenvy!! $800 on a 4 year old Prius seems a little high, but I bet i could sell them when I get rid of the Prius for at least $400-$500 for the set.

Time to start working the wife...keep the MPG updates coming for ammo!

Or, swap the Traklites for the OEM wheels (presuming you get another Prius).

MPG gain can also pay for itself.

Is the 15x6.5 the right size for the OEM tires and/or my Hydroedge (?195/60?)

Yeah the stock rim size is 15x6.5jj. The same exact size as the Traklite ones. So yes, perfect fit.

However, the offset is not the same. OEM 15" is 45mm while Traklite is 35mm. Traklite will be 10mm more outward (toward the curb). Be careful about parking as it can hit the curb sooner when closing in.

I am still torn between Traklite 1 and Traklite 2. I like the gloss blank with shinny edges of Traklite 2 but it only comes with 15x7 with the same 10 lbs. With the 35mm offset, the wheel is going to be sticking out 16mm. When I say sticking out, the wheel won't be actually stick out of the body because original wheels are kind of deep inside the body. Either that or it is because the Prius body is round.

Sticking out 16mm more is a good thing to cornering ability but I don't know how it will have ill affect on the aerodynamics on the highway.

    So many things to consider...

Edit: Ok, Traklite 2 is out of the picture since Integrity and Hydroedge 185/65/15 can only mount on 6.5" wide rims.

    treehggr,

Any update on your MPG and traklites doing? The weather is getting cold here and noticed a drop in MPG so I blocked my lower grill. I am still averaging over 60 MPG. How about you?

They seem to be doing pretty good. I had to take a trip on the highway to take my VP to the airport so that screwed my tank up plus my best friend is in town therefore more highway driving but I am still just above 70mpg for this tank with about 3-4 bars left. In all honesty the next tank will be the the one to tell. So far I am really happy with them. I will keep you updated. Have you decided on a set yet?

Subjectively can you tell if your glides are better? I know that even with fairly small changes in tire pressure I can tell when I get an extra 50-100ft of glide with higher pressures...likewise those same glides will shorten dramatically when I have a drop in pressure in cold weather. Just wondering if the traklites have offered any similar extension in glide.

BTW, I hate you for making me want these things...I've been looking all over the web for good prices...though the guy on Ebay seems to have the best.

Thanks. I am still waiting on the price on the CE28 Eco Drive with boat shipping price. Traklite prices are about 2/3 of the Eco Drive. My color preference is holding back on traklites. Eco Drive 16" are not much more than 15". However, 16" tire choices sux and expensive and forget about finding a set with silica compond.

The price of the traklites are leaning me toward it but if I am not happy with the color and look, soon I might be looking for a replacement. That is leading me to 15" eco drive but then economic of getting a set is questioning in my head. My thinking is that... save that buck toward the next Prius when it is time to upgrade.... but then the Eco Drive can go in the new Prius also... decisions.. decisions...

As you can see, I am still undecided..

I found this place with the best price... $210 shipped each rim. They said they have both black and gun metal in stock.

Evan, I have noticed that my glides seem to be better than the stock wheels running the same psi. Just to give you an idea we just drove about 50 miles round trip today traveling at speeds between 40-55 mph and my trip economy was 82mpg on the scangauge when I pulled into the garage. Overall I'm happy with my choice on new wheels. Like I said my next tank will be the real test.

And sorry for making you want these :p I think the ebay store has the best price available also.

usbseawolf2000, Yeah decisions are a pain. Keep me updated on what you choose.

I don't know if only 10mm will do it or not, but I've heard that the wrong offset can cause wheel bearings to wear out sooner than they normally would...also puts loads on the suspension that it wasn't really designed for.

    Very cool man. :)

While too small for my taste I can fully appreciate the effect of a lighter rim/tire combo. My racing history and my milage drop due to having a heavier rim/tire combo and a fairly sticky tire leads me to think you made a great choice. ;)

Sorry for the late reply, Haven't logged on in quite a while but as for MPG it has only increased a couple at best, no drastic change other than appearance.
