In Oklahoma tint darkness is regulated but not enforced. I have a shop that is going to put Lumar lifetime warranty 5% on my car for $150.

Yes, that would be great. I actually don't plan on getting any tints for the next couple of months, but will try to do as much local research as I can right now. This may sound like a dumb question, but how well can you see through your rear windshield at night with 15%?

I ended up checking out surfdog's place, and it's legit so I went with them. I paid $130 (which was a promotion)for Johnson brand (reputable brand) Greystone 35% all around. Its clean with no air bubbles or imperfections that I've picked up so far, but hey that's what the lifetime warranty is for! Johnson provides the manufacturer's warranty, while the shop provides the labor warranty, so parts and labor covered! :D

The owner does everything himself, so he doesn't have to charge as much as bigger shops. That's what you're paying for; labor, and the costs of running the shop, not so much the actual product.
All in all I am happy with price, quality, and even service. He's a cool guy, I actually talked with him as he was tinting my car from beginning to end. He apologized for it taking an hour and a half, but I didn't care bc I wanted the job done right, and he did.
The guy says that he had done jobs for 10 other Prius Chat members. He's in Huntington Beach. Hes been tinting for 13 years and owns 2 other shops in SoCal.

Glad everything worked out for u. I find it amazing how car tints look even darker right after it's freshly tinted. Looks good:).

Hi. New here. I completely understand the feeling. Maybe more people in the tailgating prii thread would want to know the answer too. Did you ever find out the answer?

This is my first post after trolling for weeks, but I wanted to add to the tint conversation. After PM'ing Surfdog, he gave me the info to his tint guy. His pricing is anywhere from $1-200 cheaper than the quotes I was getting and with Surfdog's experience and recommendation I made an appointment. Got my car tinted 20% on all 10 windows for $140 total including tax. The tint looks great and I think I just found a place that I will go for a very long time! Thanks for saving me from dropping double to get my car tinted, now I can use that savings for other mods...thinking springs....

Just got her over the weekend. What kind of tint do you recommend? Ceramic? Metallic? Although I have ceramic on my other car for the heat protection here in the San Fernando Valley, I think the blue/green hue to ceramics will clash with the black paint. Thoughts?

Get Huper Optik tint. It has no hue to it.

Thanks Superdood. I actually have Huper Optik on my other car and it definitelly does have a green tint. At the time I installed that film, I looked at the 3M, I believe, and that had a blue tint to it. I wonder if that's just the nature of ceramics, or if I can find a charcoal ceramic maker somewhere...

Llumar's Formula One Pinnacle ceramic has a charcoal hue. I have a pic I can post later if needed.

The factory glass is tinted green anyway so isn't it redundant? I'd think they'll have green hue to some extent regardless of what brand tint you have (unless you go limo dark).

I just got Suntek HP 30% on the upper hatch glass only today. That's the part that needs it the most. The shade is a little different than the glass under spoiler, but I don't mind.

Good price at $65 installed at http://www.automalltintspecialist.com/ in Fremont, CA. Good shop, been in business for years. Sydney did my 2009, no probs. Greg runs this shop and he's good. Tell him Brett referred you.

He put in a request to delete his account because he has no time to "maintain the account." Since when do you have to "maintain" anything when joining a forum? Obviously weird.

+1, Automall is a great shop. Greg tinted my 2011 with Huper and did an impeccable job. Sydney is a member of this forum as well.
