    I would like to learn... On the other hand I'll have a programmer I'll never need again unless I want to change the code for adding an LCD etc. I don't care about the display as long as it charges though lol.

    I had to substitute "equivalent" parts for a couple things on the board, so I'd feel better having the unit tested (and not building/buying a tester to use once) :p

    just got my open evse from mitch672, had it installed in an hour. plugged it in andcharged 9 miles in 52 minutes. it's beautiful and he did a great job with it. i especially like the display countup timer, i will be able to see at a glance how much longer to finish charging. also, the j1772 fit very smoothly in the pip.

    glad you like it bisco. I also received trentofdestinys OpenEVSE V4.0 board, programmed it and tested it for him as well, will be shipped back on Monday.

    Got my Leviton 15A charge cable/plug today. Unfortunately, I had ordered a Leviton strain relief to fit the 30A cable, so that'll get exchanged to Amazon.

    fyi, i just got mine from mitch672 and the leviton charge cable fits into the prius socket just fine. charged up in 90 minutes yesterday and used the toyota cable to charge at work. now i'm back to full commute ev only. you're going to love it trent!

    I built his OpenEVSE 30A capable (10/3 wiring throughout), though it has an L6-20P plug on it now (240V 20A max).
    He can change out the plug for an L6-30P (240V 30A), if he gets a "real EV". The J-1772 cable used is the 30A version... He only has a 12/2 wire on a 20A breaker now anyway, that would have to be changed to 10/3 on a 30A breaker to support up to 24A (%80 rule)

    BTW, that 15A cable you bought is only rated at 120V, it will work at 240V, but it would not pass UL listing for a commercial product, the insulation is only rated at 300V, the 240V UL approved J-1772 cable assemblies are rated for 600V

    I realize that about the voltage rating. The water- and oil-proof power cord I had laying around is also only rated for 300V "junior" cord set.

    Trent, "Stayonline" has a line of Hubbell plastic gland nuts, for all different cable diameters, this is where I bought the ones I use, they are $7 each, but they only seem to ship via FedEx, which makes them a little pricey.

    I'll check that out. I used a weatherproof metal fitting from Home Depot for the inlet cord and an $18 Leviton braided strain relief for the J1772 cable. Amazon will be exchanging it for me. Live and learn I guess :p

    Got the 15A cable's strain relief in the mail today from Amazon, and the board itself back from Mitch as well. Looks like I'll be doing some wiring tonight :cool: don't know if it will be finished though...

    Hehe yeah. Funny thing about that though...the Prius said 0.9kWh and 2.9 hours on 120V but 1.8kWh and 1.9 hours on 240V.

    that is odd, shouldn't take that long. yesterday i had to leave for work, i thought the charge woyld be done, but when i went out to the garage, it was still charging. i looked at the count up timer and it was at 1 hour 19 minutes. oh well. i figured it must be close to done. i was just about to put my hand on the evse handle when it shut off. looked back at the timer and it was 4 seconds short of 1 1/2 hours.

    I guess you're right. It's been plugged in for maybe 5 minutes and now it says 1.6 hr...oops just went up to 1.7, probably because I had to turn everything on.
