my poor 08 prius got broken in...

    I feel for you.

    Even if someone saw the break in, it may not be reported to the police. I guess the last thing someone wants is to have a gang or a gang kid upset at them. So I don't put much faith in car alarms. I've had my car towed with alarms blazing. The person who did it was probably a nearby neighbor - the person most likely to hear the alarm.

    You best bet is to have insurance and not leave things in the car. Easier said than done though.

    I got my car keyed. I have no idea how or when. That's life in the city, I guess.

    aftermarket car alarm are compatible with the original in prius? How can I test if i got one dealer alarm? Im thinking on install.. But I like keyless entry

    best alarm is a mean sounding dog. an nra sticker might make them think twice too.

    I assume that in Mexico the law-abiding citizens are not encouraged to own firearms, so this may not help in your locale.

    Nop fire arms didnt help legally, hehe maybe the dog is a better idea but I believe that We gotta think positive and stay that way, robbers and thiefs are everywhere but sometimes lucky good destiny is by our side, thats why Im considering to install aftermarket alarm, not by fear just caution! :)

    Sorry to hear of your bad luck.
    Does the US Prius come as standard with an ultrasonic interior alarm. With the UK version you can leave the windows open and lock the car. If you put your hand through the open window the alarm will go off.
