My Prius accident case - update 05/23/07

Was in an accident earlier this week. In anticipation that the car may be totaled, my husband and I were talking to the owner of the dealership where we bought the car. He checked with someone on the ability to get new HOV stickers for a replacement prius in the event the original car is totaled. We were told that we should be able to get replacements if we filled out the request for replacement form and indicated the reason to be that the the original vehicle was permanently nonoperational and was being replaced with new vehicle (VIN#xxxxxxxxxx). We will see.

 

Isn't there some kind of one time data recorder in the Prius? I'm not sure if it records the last 30 seconds of car data or only when an airbag fires.

Could be something look at if they said you were moving.

I think it records throttle position, speed and similar.
