My Prius comes out of EV mode at 30mph

    You are aware that there is no advantage in trying to use EV mode all the time? The ICE has to run to charge the battery eventually and will just run longer if you run the battery down in EV mode.
    I shouldn't bother and unless you are doing something like making a quiet get away in the early hours I don't know why your using EV mode.

    If you are in slow traffic the HSD will allow you to move under electric power anyway where practical.
