My son had an argument with a stop sign and a pipe this weekend.

We have a saying in the canoe club.
If you don't write it down?
    It never happened.

When I lived in Charleston I saw people get bounced out of their insurance company for too many glass claims.
We live in a 50-state "laboratory of democracy" so your state may vary.

    Update:
Removed bumper and lower panels to look for any further damage.

The bumper support was torn up real bad and the the bottom engine cover bent also.
A closer inspection turned out the lower radiator support was 'moved'
The driver side that hit the stop sign was this close to the frame:

The passenger side looked like this:

The frame had a little tear that will be welded up later, but I could not persuade it to move more than an 1" were the tear lined up. but was about 1-1/2" away from the nearest hole for the engine cover.

    Soon I discovered this bolt:

As you can see, it moved almost 2" back from were it was.

Loosened it up and moved it back and all the holes lined up again

Snapped everything back into place and looks good except for the chunks missing from the bumper cover.
