Got all finished up with my Subwoofer install in my 2013 Prius C. This is my first post but wanted to see what you guys and gals thought about the setup.

My main goal was to add some good bass to the factory system without sacrificing any cargo space. Especially since there is not much to begin with, cargo space or bass :)

    Equipment used:
    JL Audio 8w1
    JL Audio XD 300/1

I guess it's a good price given the labor it takes, I just don't have that kind of $ available right now. I'll pm you when I get the lot together.

Sounds good, I'm working on an easier design, I'll keep you posted. Planning on making one for the other side as well.

Would fiberglass be a good option as a material in terms of quality and build cost?

Quality yes, built cost no. A lot more labor involved with fiberglass, at least if you're just making a few of them. Making vacuum mold setup would probably cost less if I start making a bunch of them, high cost initially though.

Personally, coming from a music background, the resonation and vibration of tones bouncing against wood is the best sound there is. Hence the Strattavarius Violin. Just my two cents. I feel people will like the end result of you using wood over fiberglass. Vibrational tones will seep through the fiberglass material. Wood is just plain made for music to resonate from. And just another amatuer tip, build one, send it to one of the people here that has a Prius C at a discount so they can hear it, then let that person be your salesman. Seriously, once people hear how it sounds with wood, you will be busy!!

Another option is to build it without the felt, selling it less without the felt cover. Helps save you construction time and the end user can cover it on their own. Charge more if they want you to cover it with felt.

    Thanks Montgomery!
I also prefer the sound of wood over fiberglass, great suggestions!
I'm working on an easier design at the moment that should reduce labor costs quite a bit.

New design in progress. Building one for both sides if you really want it to get after it. :)

I'll all for reclaiming that negative space in the trunk. If I can make one side work for me as a sub, even better. Definitely keeping tabs on this thread for updates.
