Everything worked perfect yesterday.. went and got in my car today and the screen is dead.... so is the bluetooth!.. everything else works perfect!.... audio, pwr steering, radio, , airconditioner, overhead lighting, odometer, clock.. all accessories seem to work as normal.

Thank goodness I got the extended warranty as I have 88K on it now!

I tried to check fuses but found nothing.. my manual doesn't correlate to the panel over the inside instrument fuses the same either.

At any rate.. seems every fuse that has a description of having anything to do with the display also fuses other things too that are working fine.... maybe only the display went out?.. but why would I also lose my bluetooth?

Nothing beeps or makes any noise either when I put my finger anywhere on the screen.
It appears to truly be dead rather than just not showing.

bummer man!! i suppose its not possible that you turned the screen off then?

now if the screen display is off, would that make the touch screen function non operational as well? on the normal startup screen the switch from energy to consumption button would be in the lower left corner of the screen... if you hit that, can you hear the beeping sound?

as far as the BT, that implies that something has gone out. can you check for codes?

I don't know how to turn the screen off and on... its always on?

but pushing any areas on the screen does nothing as far as making any sounds or beeps..

Seems its deader than a dornail "as we say in Texas"

i am still trying to understand why the BT stopped working too. or is it simultanaeous failural coincidences?

as far as turning off the screen, a lot of people do it because the light bothers them at night.

oh no, mine works fine and i would venture to say that as long as i stay in a cool climate i think my risk is not as great as someone in a hot climate...

just making light of a bad situation... ya know, MFD on Gen 2 not working because its in a Gen 3 forum... well, ok... make a lot more sense at the time

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you turn off the MFD (display options, IIRC) it still lights up with the welcome screen when you turn the car on, or press the climate button. His unit sounds dead-ish.

The service guy said the bluetooth was all tied in?.. I don't know...

I'm still responding to this thread because a mod hasn't moved it yet to the GenII section.
If I didn't have my Platinum coverage, it would cost me a meer 3800.00....and thats for rebuilt which is all the insurance will do.
    New would be 6700.00.

They have to order it.. it only takes about an hour to put in!

I removed my MFD once to get some quarters out of the CD player that had shorted out many cabin components (My 2-year old thought the slot was the perfect size) ... not really difficult, but most of the dash comes off in the process, so it looks scary. Went back together easy, and squeak free. FYI: I find this thread through the GENII forum, so maybe it shows up in both?

Yep... already sold it once as new and made full profit... then they get it back later broken.. they fix it and get another 3800.00 for the same used part.

I wonder how much that was per hour minus parts that prob cost pennys as most likely it was a bad IC inside.

Many electronics make more money through repairs than sales.. this wouldn't be the first time!

Sell you a printer for a few bucks.. then the printer cartridges cost half as much as the printer and within a year you've tripled the cost of the printer!..
Buy a computer and they make a few bucks profit, but as soon as you have your first breakdown and need a part from them......

The tiny part plus a couple of hours to put in was 850.00 to fix my window... now 3800.00 bucks for one hours worth of work.

This is as bad as the medical industry!
In the fact that if you don't have insurance.... your just screwed!

First of all in a situation like this...
    1. How would you know about these types of availabilities?
where would you go to look?
    2. Could you get the dealer to put it in for standard hourly charges?
