Just changed the alternator in my 06 LE Frontier. Suprising enough it went pretty easily. However i have a belt squeal / sqeak whatever you want to call it after all put back together. That was not there before. I checked belt alignment on pulleys, it looks good. I drove it for any 15 miles thinking it may be some rouge pb blaster that got on something. Still there.
    Noise can be heard here
    Nissan Frontier sqeeking belt

Noise does appear to change with rpm.

    Bad belt tensioner you think?
    Or?
    Thanks

Lol, we have no alternator advice on PriusChat because we have an entire transmission for an alternator not a little tiny pathetic car alternator that only makes electricity rather than also powering the vehicle... That being said, you either have a belt that's too big or it has not been properly tightened enough yet.

    lol. yes i am aware.
The belt was on there before the alternator change, its about 3.5 years old with about 40k miles.
The tensioner was also on there before but its been on 80k miles. I'm thinking tensioner then. Just wanted another opinon before I bought a tensioner

A new belt with a new alternator is standard operating procedure... Not sure why you'd blame the tensioner?

I've never heard that. Nor did the guys at advance auto try to push one on me when i bought the alternator. I suppose I'll try the belt first since it's cheaper

You can spray wd40 on the tentioner bearings to see if the nosie goes away. I think it is the tentioner btw.
