    Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased a Prime Advanced. So far, its everything i've hoped for, but i do have a question in regards to the navigation hopefully someone can help me. How do i get the screen to go back to navigating (i already punch in my destination) after you move the map around on the screen? It just seems to have the crosshair and stay at where ever you last left it at? I hope im making sense.

    Thanks,

My P.Prime has not come in yet, but I believe I saw a YouTube video that says that Home button will do that.

I periodically run into that same situation on my current, Gen-2. I can't immediately recall whether there's an equivalent there...

I also transformed from a Gen II. Gen II has a map button on the wheel.

    Hi
I don't have the 11' TV screen you have, but mine goes back to route once a update or direction is announced, ie,
"turn left in 2 miles at xxx" and the cross hairs go back to my vehicle's location.

The "Home" button will return the crosshair to your current location.... enjoy!

I finally tried it, and, indeed, on a Gen-2, hitting the Map button on the wheel takes you out of that mode. Thanks for the tip!

This is a little off topic, but possibly interesting:

A lot of people perceive Toyota's GPS navigation system to be primitive. I usually find it more useful than using my iPhone, just simply because it's so conveniently located in the dashboard. Then again, if Toyota supported CarPlay or Android Auto…

However one feature it has that I don't recall seeing on most other GPS units, is the option to set multiple destinations, and it then chooses the best route between all of them.

It will at least do that on my Gen-2. I don't know whether that's still available on the Prime. Anybody know?

I don't know if the Prime has that, but my Honda navigation would do that, set multiple destinations and it would give you a total time and a segment time. Unless what you mean is entering 3 destinations and saying take me to all 3 in any order pick best route, then I don't think I have seen that. I will have to check the Prime. The navigation isn't so much primitive as the menus and inputs are. Once you have navigation going, it is a perfectly serviceable design, the problem is getting a destination entered takes way too much work. I am still mystified what web search is supposed to provide given it clearly doesn't seem to give destination options. That said I have just not had a need for navigation much so far, once we take our summer trip though we will see how that goes. Although I will likely enter all the addresses for our trip into the system before we even leave the driveway on day 1.

The way I've gotten web search to work is to use the search function in the Entune app, then save the destination on your phone. Then use the saved destinations in the car and perform a sync when asked, then you can navigate. I haven't tried just searching in the car, but I know Yelp works well.

That is my recollection as to what that feature does -- choosing the best route between all programmed destinations. Admittedly though, I've only used that feature once or twice; nevertheless, I though it a cool feature, even if only in concept.

I just used the navigation system in my new prime, it did a great job to a destination that was very rural. My questions is: when I was ready to go home I picked the option to go home, got to a point that I knew the rest of the way and wanted to just turn it off. Couldn't find a way to do that!! Any suggestions?

I think I did that and it asked if I wanted to delete the destination...my concern was that I didn't want to totally delete what I identified as my home location. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see whether it just ends the instructions.
    Thanks

Yes, it does ask and I had the same concern. It only ends the guidance but does not delete the location.

I had this same question way back with my Gen I Prius in 2003. "Delete Destination" only deletes it as the current navigation target. It does not delete it from any lists it might be in, such as Home or Previous Destination or Address Book.

Yes, that confused me at first on my Gen-2. The underlying logic to remember is that this GPS system lets you choose a list of locations to navigate to, and it figures out the best route between all of them. So, it's asking you whether you want to delete that location from the list (of one) locations to navigate to.
