I've seen a lot of posts and replies about a spare for the two eco and other "spareless" gen 4's, but I still haven't been able to find a compact spare for my two eco. I've been to Pep Boys, junk yards and 2 dealers with no luck at all. I'm thinking that there must be earlier gens of the Prius that must have compatible donut spares. I've had 2 flats on this car in less than a year. I have to get a donut before I drive a distance on vacation.

why can't a dealer supply a spare? it's just a gen 4 tire and wheel.

My Gen 4 has full size wheels. The OP wants a compact spare I believe somebody said a Gen 3 compact spare would work.

the gen 4 with spare is a full size, not a donut?

My spare is compact but the normal "Gen 4 tire and wheel" are full size, not compact.

Hit the junkyards for a donut from a 2010-2015 Prius it will work. (I've been told)

That sounds good. Do you have a gen 4 w/ full size spare? Does it fit in the trunk? I don't want to lose trunk space.

Thanks. If a gen 3 compact spare will work, I know I could fit that into the trunk.

Stick with compact spare, and as far as I know 3rd and 4th gen spare are same. An extra full size tire and rim will be a lot thicker.

Only if you're in the Middle East, rest of the world only gets a temporary/donut/pretend spare.

Has anyone ever considered using any donut they have laying around and a spacer? Maybe that will allow for a smaller and lighter spare for emergencies. Would something like that work?

Compact spares from a late model Toyota Corolla would be compatible as well. They should be easier to find than Prius spares.

    I thought spacers weren't legal?

i have gen 3 pip, which has no place for a spare. i keep a donut in the hatch. it does take up a lot of room.
but you have the ability to remove the styrofoam below the hatch and stow it there, because other gen 4's come with a spare already in there. there are threads here on how to.
