Installing the wiring for my hitch (never knew uhaul will rent you 5x8 trailers for a prius)... I'm looking for the aft brake wire to splice into... turn signals are easy (green/yelliw)...

    Thanks!

Just buy a kit where you don’t have to splice

Asian vehicles require a converter to use trailers with combination stop and turn signal lights used on US made cars and trailers. You can buy and install a converter. I don't know, if UHaul dealers would rent the converter, but I know that they sell and install them.

Are 5x8's from U-haul a 4-wire flat cable? Four wire flats use the turn signals for brake lights. The other wire (besides ground) is for the standard tail light.

The Prius has separate brake and turn signals. You need a 3-2 converter, because the U-Haul trailer has integrated turn and stop (brake) lights.

Four wire cable on the trailer used brown for clearance/running lights, green for right turn, yellow for left turn and white for ground.

oops! I was thinking about how I check if the trailer lights are working when I'm by myself - I don't need to press the brake pedal to check the bulbs, I just check that both hazard lights on the trailer blink. That's backwards from the question. Yes, I have a converter box to feed brakes into the turn signal circuit.

    sorry for the unhelpful info
