I was checking my OBD2 port and saw this black plug on the left. Anybody have any idea what it might be? Thanks!

Too small for a bomb. Remote controlled Sarin gas dispenser?

My car doesn't have it (2010 prius II).

Do you have an aftermarket alarm system? Could be a glass breakage sensor.

Haha, you guys are just awesome. I'm glad I'm still safe if it's a bomb. No complaints on the spouse yet :)

Looks like a sensor to an alarm system. Is your car equipped with an alarm system, factory or aftermarket?

Any lettering or numbers that you can see on the part?

If it was connected to the ODB2 port it could be one of those things some insurance companies are trying to get people to use that evaluate your driving and report to big bro. Could also be one of the the GPS trackers some car dealers install so they can track the car if it is stolen off the lot. What does the wire connect to?

peterjmc, I don't see any part number on it.
tumbleweed, from just a quick look, doesn't seem like it is connected to the OBD2. I'll try to open the left panel to trade the wire when I have some free time.

I bet the wire is a power lead connected to the 12V system to power the thing. Probably a tracker either installed by the dealer or one of those things people put in to track their spouse or their kids. I think I would disconnect it in either case.

No aftermarket alarm system that I'm aware of. The dealer I bought it from didn't mention anything about their alarm system.

Anyone knows how to disconnect it and take it out of the electrical system?

Uninstall it? Do I go to control panel first?

If you did not pay for the KARR system it is not activated, the dealer can disconnect it, or shut it on or off, an KARR rep can do the same. I have a KARR system on my 2012. Like any alarm its neither here or there in the long run.
