My old Prius allowed me to unlock all doors if my hand touched the passenger side door w remote in the pocket.

My new prime does not open any door. It only works from the driver side.

How do I configure to get all doors unlocked from the passenger side?

    Thanks

Which model do you have? If it’s the Prime Plus, the sales brochure (PDF) says it has the “Smart Key System on driver’s door,” i.e., it lacks the necessary electronics and wiring to detect the key when approaching the passenger’s door or rear hatch.

    READ your owners manual.

With the models that have that feature available it is an option that you must set.

But from the post above, it sounds like it might not be possible.

This seems like a huge engineering mistake if that's the way it is.

I wouldn't call it an engineering mistake. It was a conscious decision by the sales/marketing people with regard to price pointes and features. If they threw all the goodies into the lowest price model there would be nothing left to make people want to buy the higher priced models.

I would actually characterize it more as a failure of the dealership sales people to know their vehicles in detail and to express that to the people who are buying the car.

I think it goes more like "I don't really need that honking big display and heated seats/steering wheel and who needs those phone apps so I'm just going to get the base model)".

But the REAL reasons to upgrade are the auto-dimming mirror with the garage door opener built in and the ability to unlock all the doors from the passenger seat. However I doubt those features are ever mentioned by a sales person anywhere (even if they knew they existed). Those are the features that niggle at you for a long time going forward and make you regret not upgrading. Safety features are all good and all, but they don't really effect your living on a day to day basis (assuming you keep living), but convenience features are the things that can convince people to upgrade but yet they're the things leased pushed by sales people because they are passé.

If you have a Prius Prime next time you're at your dealership take it in and have them set unlock all doors when you touch the handle or open using your key fob. The dealership is the only one that can to do that.I don't know why there's no option in the car but that's how I got mine done.

right, they put it on all pips, along with all four auto up/down windows to help marketing.

but decontenting and package differentiation are toyota specialties. you can't expect to have what you had, you have to research.

At least the four windows still has auto up and down. I am a little disappointed as I expected this to be a basic feature

don't blame you. it's an easy feature to get used to. when i was looking at 2011's from my '08 package 2, which had 3 door sks, i was going to have to go up a package to get it. kind of a turnoff.

Are you SURE this is the case ?
One person here said it like he knows.....but that might just be an assumption.
If I were you, I would ask my dealer to look for that option on your next visit.

Yap, 1 door SKS is standard on Plus trim. AFAIK, no option to upgrade exist. At least on 2017 model. For 3 door SKS, you needed to purchase at least Premium model. Of that means you have to live with Softex seats and 11.6 LED without any physical knobs.

More like an intentional marketing move. My 2 cents, it backfires, pissing off potential buyers: punishment for buying the base model. :cautious:

I have the Premium. There’s a setting. Go to vehicle settings and unlock settings. At the bottom it’ll be an option if only the one door unlocks, or if all unlock.

Unfortunately, OP's Prime is Plus trim, and it does not have 3 door SKS, period. No matter how hard he looks for the setting, he will not find the way to unlock other doors.

Well as @usood89 says, you can set it to unlock all doors or just driver's door, there's an owner customizable setting for that. But touch-to-unlock is on driver's door handle only. No three-door touch-to-unlock. :(

Agreed. If unlocking all the doors or just the driver side door is what OP wanted to change, he can do that. OP asked, "How do I configure to get all doors unlocked from the passenger side?" The answer is as @Mendel Leisk pointed out, not possible on OP's Plus trim.
