I noticed some water leaking in my trunk (battery side panel) after some heavy rains this past week. Checked underneath the battery and found some moisture but not too bad. As shown by the yellow arrows in the photo, the moisture is along the side panel trim. I checked underneath the top roof weather stripping by the rear passenger side door and saw some debris but not too bad. I keep the channel where the hatchback strut is at clean as that’s where leaves and debris like to collect.

can anyone suggest areas that might be the source of the leak? No visible gaps or seams along the channel and I don’t think it’s near the tail light since the moisture is closer to the front of the car and not the back

    Thanks all

Thanks for the reply. I’ll seal those areas up and probably try to get other areas where potential leaks may occur too . Thanks, seems to be a common problem from past threads.

Yes, my 2008 Prius had major water leaking after all these big rainstorms in California. Dealer said go to a car body shop to diagnose the exact reasons for it. But the shops prioritize collision clients and couldn't get an appointment until April! Bought a good waterproof car cover and that has helped keep the water out.
In the meantime, the Toyota dealer had a 2015 Prius hybrid plug-in with low miles and I bought it this week!
Maybe time to update my profile. Car is sea glass pearl color.
