Need HID Bulbs

    I need to replace my OEM hid bulbs on my 2008 Prius. I found some on ebay for $20.00 and seller is saying they ar oem but I find that hard to believe. I don't mind getting aftermarket ones as long as they are good quality.

    Who has upgraded from 4300K to 6000K? How do you like the 6000k?

    How do you like the 6000k?

    You may like them, but anyone in front of you or driving toward you in the opposite lane is going to want to slash your tires.....

    On another note, I bought a 2005 in the Fall of 2018 for my son to use. He didn't want to spend a bunch of $$, so we searched around a bit, and purchased Onyx replacement HIDs. It cost $34 for a pair, and they still work perfect and look great.

    Why would they want to slash my tires? My Prius has OEM Hid headlights so if I was to put in 6000K that would not blind oncoming traffic at all. If my prius had regular halogen headlights and I put in a aftermarket kit than of course I would be blinding oncoming traffic.

    Also 6000K is just a tad bit whiter with a blue hint vs the 4300K. Most new vehicles that come with factory LED's have 5500K color.

    Anything over 6000K is way too blue

    I just looked on that web site they are now $69.00 for the pair so sounds like you got a good deal.

    Well, it was 2 years ago, maybe they were having a sale?

    The stock HIDs are 4300 and if you believe the 6k isn't going to piss people off, then I suppose you should go for it.

    See how easy this is? This is exactly why people are being blinded. Factory is 4300, you want to install 6000. There's a difference, and it's annoying to everyone else, but the people that put this stuff into their headlights don't seem to realize it. Of course, they also then complain that the headlights don't last very long, and therefore it must be a design flaw by Toyota

    Just as an example, install a 25 watt light bulb somewhere in your house and stare at it. Now remove it and install a 100 watt bulb and stare at it. that's what you're doing to other drivers.

    What is the Best Hid Color for Night Driving?.

    I’m quoting a moderator on a lighting forum, specifically the automotive section, and this is for lower CCT:

    “While the Philips X-Treme Vision wouldn't be a *bad* choice, the 4800K color temperature means it tends slightly more towards blue than the Osram Night Breaker Laser at 4400K, which makes it slightly more glaring for a given intensity. And, again, it doesn't need to match your fog lamps.”
