Need SD micro disk for latest 2021/22 navigation map for 2018 Prime

    Just got off phone with Toyota dealer parts department who said there is no micro disk navigation map available to update my 2018 Prime 11" screen unit to show the latest map! Gave me the 2018 part but said his computer shows no newer update available.

    Doesn't sound right, or is this really true and I am forever stuck with a 2018 navigation map?

    I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. I think the HU for 2020 and up PP has different part number and SD card is not compatible for the the earlier models. For the price of map update, you can buy really nice stand alone Garmin GPS unit which comes with free map update for life. That's what I use on my 2021 PP.

    Looks like Part Number: 862710E073 is the latest SD card for 2018 PP with 11.6" display.

    Wow I am surprised that Toyota would leave all 2018 and earlier users in the lurch. I could understand if something beyond their control like the switch from 2G to 3G or 4G cellular radios where there is no backward path. And I understand you have to draw the line somewhere. Imagine the pain if Microsoft kept changing its disk system format every few years without providing a way to convert old files to new format.

    Too bad Toyota doesn't furnish a paid update download, though I guess once the copy was in the wild, others would update their units for free.

    A rhetorical question: Wonder if their was ever a class action suit to get Toyota to furnish updates?
    Oh well, it is what it is :cry::(
