I wonder why they just didn't call it the Honda Civic Hybrid?

For the same reason Chevy renamed the Aveo the Sonic in the US; to get past a poor rep.

Alzheimer's is setting in, I've a vague recollection seeing something about this maybe a week back. Probably made the same lament: why-oh-why is it a sedan. Like you said, basically a Civic Hybrid, which is not the end of the world. Actually, has a very Accordish look??

    I could warm to it...

Sedan is still more popular in the US, and those wanting hatchback versatility are already choosing the CR-V(which is also coming out with a hybrid) over the Civic hatchback.

I like the look of the engine bay, all business, no bs plastic covers.

The dash too, nice driver-centric controls, conventional speedo:

    (Novel shifter though.)

    Steering wheel close up:

Very busy front grill, lotsa pointless, hard-to-clean crap. That appears to be mandatory these days:

(Would look more at home on a truck? Does that central, blanked-off region do anything?)

The trim features look like they offer less than the Prius.

They'll be there on the one you take home.

That photo is of the car in motion. So the blanked off part is likely closed active grill shutters.

Although the car will most likely have grill shutters, it appears both the upper and lower portions are open (can even see the radiators). The solid middle section will most likely be the location of the license plate.

I didn't think grill shutters do a 100% block of the grill, but that solid portion is there in photos of the car parked. This appears to be a design cue to distinguish the Insight from the Civic, which has a thicker 'bumper' in that area.

I'll wager no: what you see is what you get. I like that look, practical/functional.

i like the shifter, more efficient use of real estate vs stick.

I was thinking they removed some for the photo.
The coil packs look exposed compare to other recent engines. I would be surprised to see Acura level plastic covers hiding the engine, but feel one or two is missing from the picture.

I've seen a few Honda showroom vehicles lately, some had plastic covers, the others not. Didn't get the sense there was anything pulled off, it looked complete. And hey, I was there for parts, just passing through the showroom, but you gotta look.

Entirely possible the plastic shrouds get left off for weight savings.

The new 2019 Insight has a pretty big trunk - 15 cu. ft.

More plastic, less paint = lower cost.

Oh, that ugly front end belies the ugly Civic "monster truck drove up my butt" rear end treatment!

As always Honda has cruise control buttons in good place: On face of steering wheel. Hey, Toyota, get rid of that lame, misplaced cruise control stalk behind steering wheel.
That said, I'll bet Honda is planning pretty modest sales goals for all of their electrified vehicles. Lot of hype though.

There is actually one 'green' vehicle on the market, available as of last week I would consider buying. One of a 150 green vehicles on market. Needs to improve.

lol. I prefer the stalk since I can access it with my pink while holding the "3" position. On, SET and cancel with the pinky. RES requires my ring finger.

The LS and Camry have it on the face so it looks like Toyota is changing over. Not a fan tbh since that space could've been used for other buttons. Oh well.

Friends, I really need your help. I want to buy a car. More precisely not only myself. For the whole family. Family car for comfortable trips. Tell me, please, what better car to take. Thank you very much!
