New Battery and Filter?

    I need to replace the battery it has been dying for several months now. Of couse I have the the triangle of death. So when calling the dealer to get a battery quote they said they have to install a battery filter as well and quoted me $ 1,820 for the filter alone. Do you think I need a battery filter or can I just go with a new battery?

    Filter? Are you sure you heard them correctly? There is a fan that acts as a sort of filter for the Gen 2 battery, but it usually just needs cleaning. If it needs to be replaced, I would think it might cost $100, nothing close to what they are quoting.

    Did a parts search using a local Denver zip code for a new OEM gen2 battery with the part #G951047031 at
    Toyota Parts and Accessories - Official Online Store and came up with :

    $1755 - G951047031 - Toyota Battery assembly, hv supply. Electrical, wiring, cable | Stevinson Toyota East, Aurora CO

    $1773 - G951047031 - Toyota Battery assembly, hv supply. Local pickup only. Electrical, wiring, cable | Stevinson Toyota West, Lakewood CO

    Installation could be 2-4 hours which should include the cleaning of the HV fan.
