    Well - reading their boards, it seems like there IS an element in that community that eats through those expensive tires awfully quick. But maybe they don't go back to the dealer for tires.

    Maybe future Toyota plugins will be
    doing 0-60mph in under 3 or 4 seconds too ... and tire sales will pick up.

    Just realized I must have too lightly skimmed this quote from the OP;
    Toyota NOW expects plug-ins to gain traction faster than hybrids? Wait ... was someone asleep? IIRC, hasn't that increased demand been the case for at LEAST the last couple years? .... that plugins have in fact been increasing sales faster than traditional hybrids? How is it, that increased Plugin demand was not recognized as an aberration . . . & that this demand will continue to outpace hybrif growth ... plugin demand had been growing faster than hybrids for some amount of years now.
