New hubs, rotors and pads

    The car developed a “shimmy” when braking downhill. Figured might as well change all the wheel hubs. Then since I did the hubs, might be time (130,000 miles) to change the brakes. 2D1A6CB4-23D3-4C95-A975-264F1316F6E9.jpeg

    It's 10 years old, could just be an issue with one of the pads sticking or even a caliper....also the caliper pins should be checked to make sure they still slide about freely with the pads...but replacing them all, at this point, probably isn't a bad idea.
    When you have the tires raise up, grab them at 12/6 and 9/3 and give a good wiggle...if you have excess play a wheel bearing or support rod could be needing replacement.

    What year is the v? At 130k you should take a look at the EGR cooler, EGR valve, and the intake manifold EGR passages for sure, if you haven't already done it.

    Our 2011 hatchback's EGR cooler at 124K was about 80 percent obstructed with oily carbon gunk.

    Could also be a separated belt in a tire…

    Yep, had a big bulge in the tire on our Corolla in the rear passenger position. Was causing vibration and a thumping sound. Took a while to pinpoint what the cause was.
