And there's a number of non-trolls who participate there because they find it interesting. Closing that forum would eliminate a few, but you'd be throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Personally... I'm glad this place has the FHoPol...

The self righteous and sanctimonious don't like to hear differing points of view... and, as witnessed by yours truly, if the ubber lefties want you to disappear from this place, they will bait you until you are banned... or... just get ya banned for the hell of it every once in a while...

I find the FHoPol to be a fine work friendly place to visit... and if you aren't ascared of a little banter on current events, you can learn something from the personalities that frequent that little forum in here, because there ARE some keen minds with opinions as well as some information illuminated in there that isn't seen on your friendly MSM...

Just don't get on the bad side of the mods... they are too busy to have to deal with this political stuff and will generally just knock you off the site rather than keep coming back to edit the board from "inappropriate" posts.

    YMMV

I see no use for it when a select number of individuals ONLY post in that forum. They offer no other help to Prius owners and are only here to antagonize and spread their particular flavor of politics. I made no distinction between political parties now did I?

Of course you don't... that's why it's for folks that subscribe to talk in there, and not the run-of-the-mill car chatters...

It's OK if you don't want to join in Bra... but disparaging fellow members that DO want to converse outside of car talk in a work-safe discussion when they've already found the car information they were looking for/need to know is being a bit myopic to say the least...

I like the new little forum... even though I disagree with a number of the other members on one topic or another from time to time... it is your choice to come in and talk, one which YOU actively must ask to participate in... and it appears, perhaps, this is one you should refrain from joining or participating in because of how it disagrees with your needs for a private forum...

In any event, I will remain a member, chatting in FHoPol with folks that asked to join in the "friendly" discussions because of the differing opinions and personalities... including you should you decide later to join and contribute to the discussions at all.

    YMMV

    Bob,

I understand your stance and I can respect that. In my mind I see it as a haven for the people who end up on a lot of people's "ignore" list because of their anti-social antics. I'm just one person though and if there are enough other respectable members like yourself who enjoy the forum then I will just keep quiet. :) I already have access, I just chose to avoid the place and not because of a difference of opinion. I do not enjoy the name calling and antagonizing that goes on in there.

    Bra... don't keep quiet... :tea:

And you are spot on about some folks and the "ignore" button... but me personally, I don't have anyone on ignore, even those that have a definite "dislike" for my positions, or links found on the web, or even some of my questions for that matter... I can do that without hiding them from the screen. :D

Although I am not a member of the members-only subforum,
FHoPolitics, I think it is a valuable part of this site. When it was first
implemented, I noticed a general cooling off throughout the site, which
    has continued.

IMO, it has been a good thing to provide a place where members with
passionate views can state their case, let off steam, whatever. By
keeping politics, and its inevitable bed fellows; economics, national
defense, "Homeland Security," etc, in the "back room," the site
specific purpose of exchanging Prius related info can go on in a pretty
    much neutral environment.

Further, the closed nature of FHoPolitics means that we are not likely
to be the subject of politics-only raids by those who have no
fundamental interest in the Prius. A very good thing indeed.

Despite disagreements on some subjects, I value all three of you as members and your opinions that come along with it. I guess I am wrong in this matter and will respectfully back down on the subject. Thanks for illuminating the other side of my issue with FHoPolitics:tea:.

I have been a lot happier since I stopped visiting FHoPol, though I like some of the people there very much.

I want to thank Danny for setting up FHoPol as a private subforum and excluding the professional firebomb throwers....noticed one of them is inactive that seemed to think PC stood for "PoliticalChat.com". (???) At CleanMPG we had a similar member that seemed to regard 80% of members as "socialist"

About three years ago, I reached out and a member here offered me my first chance to drive a Prius - let him drive my Honda Insight. It was a great visit with Windstrings. A short while later, a few got Windstings involved in a flamewar that had several exchanges daily for months. And many of the remarks directed at him were rather personal.

Imagine someone you meet in person you know is alright, and then months on end people over the net that have not met him call him a complete, blithering idiot? Does that seem right? This was beyond a healthy disagreement confined to that thread - that disrespect would be felt on the public forms. For me, it definitely formed my opinions on those that flamed or discussions going deep into religion and politics on the forum I help moderate. At some point, it's best to agree to disagree....so vitrolic threads on the same theme for months erodes credibility.

While I have not been in the new FHoPol, indications seem that the excesses have been addressed. Still, there are always a few that will get bent out of shape and I simply prefer not to get involved. Sad about the few, as I have faith most can be civil.

If you mean crazy enough to jump out of a perfectly good airplane into a combat area... yeah.

I have stood in the hail of fire in foreign lands and been able to crawl away...

Those wounds are still with me...

The stuff in FHOPol isn't anything soooo terrible I couldn't jump back in...

Welllll... there are some here that think I should shut up... I thought the FHOPol was made to keep the political discussions in there... and I was trying to do just that.

But thanks for asking Di... glad to see you posting.:rockon:

I would like to be allowed into the political forums as well. But certain moderators think that just because I dont own a Prius I dont have the constitutional right to discuss political issues with other site members

dg has learned a few lessons here today.
1)This is a PRIUS forum for Prius owners first and foremost
2)We have enough trolls in the political forum already, we don't intend to allow more in just b/c they throw a tantrum
3)We Closed the Political forum to invite only because of people just like him and don't intend to allow it to open back up to people who come here just to make political waves.

It is not your forum! If you don't like the rules, go start your own. You have every constitutional right to discuss political issues all you wish, but necessarily here. The site owner gets to make the rules!

Logic and intelligence has left PriusChat anyway, Toyota is doomed and so is the forum due to illogic moderation. They have all the right in the world to do what they want, but the political sub forum is separated from the main forum, they shouldn't ban people from the main forum unless they have done something wrong in it, especially people that support the forum.

Please keep the political agenda threads out of the Main Prius Forum "unread message" threads. From what I've seen, most are senseless junk anyways. They should be parked somewhere that's hard to get to. Better still, put them on another website. This one is supposed to be about Prius.

I used to participate in it. I won't go near it again unless I want a few laughs to make the day go by better.
