From the attached picture, it seems my just bought hybrid battery was manufactured just over 5 months ago (july 21, 2022). Is that okay? Car started just fine after replacement and no more lights/codes. Just want to make sure before returning core that 5 months isn’t anything excessive for a new battery

Nothing to worry about. You couldn't find anyone who might need the usable core in exchange for 28 dead modules?

    Will try pinging @ericbecky again.

i didn’t ask anyone, i assumed someone would chime in if they read your comment tho!

my plan is to return core tomorrow afternoon, but anyone is more than welcome to them. there were no warning signs to the battery failure. i was still getting 45-50mpg, so i imagine they could be good for the right person

Thank you for making it available, and you might consider posting in the 'for sale' section as well. There are more gen2/3 eyeballs in there.

edit. Just noticed your other post.

Interesting that the dealers you called were able to quote a price, considering all the posts regarding new OEM hybrid batteries were no longer available for Gen 2.

Maybe someone can also chime in if the individual modules are Gen 4 version.

Yes, those modules in the OP are Gen 4.

The top of the Gen 4 modules are a bit different than the Gen 2/3 and easily distinguishable.

As for the battery being a few months old, not a problem at all. I've purchased a new Toyota battery (actually 2 of them) from a dealer that was shutting down. They were over 18 months old, still in the shipping crates and were flawless.

Forgot to include the link for the mentioned section : Private Sales | PriusChat

You could also post it up on craigslist or offerup, quite likely that someone would snap it up quickly in exchange for 27 bad modules.

the battery price isn't fixed by toyota, nor any parts. they sell them like cars, discounts available by supply and demand

If you don't mind, what was the price for your new battery? Having a core charge, assume you DIY installed?

Ok. All good news. How did you get the dealership to agree to sell you the battery to be able to install it yourself? Was it plug and play? Just connect the electrical harness? Or did you have to buy a new harness or reuse your bus bars? And or old HV wiring harness to make the connection? I need to be armed with info when I go and talk to Olathe Toyota. thank you Nancy.

No, you only get the RH ¾ of the battery (i. e. the battery minus the electronics in the LH enclosure).
Yes, you connect (but not just) the positive and negative wires from the battery to the battery side of the relay after transferring the relay over from your old battery in addition to transferring all the other electronics/electrical parts from the old battery electronic/electrical bay to the battery new electronic/electrical bay.
No, all the cables and parts in the RH enclosure are new.

Ah ok. That helps a lot. Thank you. The next step is just convincing the sales team to sell me a new battery and that I am skilled enough to swap and do the install.

i called 4 or 5 dealers and just told them that i have the codes for “replace hybrid battery”. Each one immediately gave me a quote for the hybrid battery, with no convincing necessary!
