Do you mean conversations, like PM messages or are you talking about general spam posts being made on the forums?

We have been plagued with spammers from Korea coming on since yesterday making tons of posts with crap text in the body of the messages. I've been doing what I can to clean it up but they are coming from multiple IP addresses, using multiple email addresses so I can only do what I can do. Since yesterday I've cleaned up 74 posts and I am sure more will come. We, the mods, are only on so often so we clean up the Spammers crap when we can. I only say this in general and not directly at you because a user in a report from last night added "Why don't the moderators delete and block this person?". If only it was that easy and if it was one person from one email address from one ip address. This is far from that. I do what I do as fast as I can when I see it but I'm not up at 1am to be on here to take care of things 24/7.

I reached out to Danny about adding more IPs to the ban list from some kind of IP database of known spammers as well as a better email database of spammers and await a reply.

All I can say for now is if you get PM's or conversations from these people in your inbox, just delete them. If they post on your profile wall (or whatever it is called) just delete them. We're aware, or at least I am, of the spam the past 2 days and am doing what I can to stop it and clean it up as I see it.

Well, at least I know that some body is taking the proper measure to eradicate the invasion of unwanted "communications".
If it is korean, mandarin or else, all looks the same to me.

I responded to one, suggested they try replacing the 12 volt. I suppose that's been deleted too? :ROFLMAO:

It is easy to tell that the mods are quickly taking care of it, by looking at the timestamps. When I run into these spam floods, they are always very fresh and dominate the top of the new posts listings. They are almost never several hours old. That means the hours- and days-old ones have been purged.

It is appreciated when users do not reply to obvious spam posts. If you were joking about replying, my request still stands because I have seen ones where people did reply, in jest or not, it makes it easier on us when no one replies to them.

Does it help to 'report' each message, or would one report per user name alert you to the fact that all that user ever posted was spam?

One report per user name works for spam of this nature Jimbo, thanks for asking. And honestly, this spam is so 'in your face' when viewed under the view new posts tab, I've been catching it all from there without even having to goto the reports. But the reports always will help with less obvious spam or problematic posts so having the users also watching out and reporting is always greatly appreciated.

And thanks for mentioning that. I had never seen it before (or missed prior mentions), so also didn't know that it eases spam removal.

The ones I saw were all from the same address, so I just "ignored" it.

I spent yesterday trying to figure out a way to block them at the server level. This morning I'm going to go in and add some blocks on the website level. Sorry about the spam hitting your inboxes, y'all.

Thanks Danny. I had deleted a ton more posts this morning so hopefully our/your measures will slow and eventually stop them.

Thanks for just deleting pms/profile posts you all may see as you see them.

Today I tried reporting just one post, then ignoring the user, so I did not report any more posts. That worked well for me, I hope it helped.

Yeah, that's fine reporting just one of the multiple posts from the same user, Thanks Jimbo. If you don't want to ignore the user, saving that small bit of extra time, once I 'Zap' them into oblivion it really won't matter much other than not having to see their crap until one of us does get to it. And I wouldn't blame you for not even wanting to see it a second longer than you have to, it is obnoxious.

Any ideas as to the object of these Korean postings?
