    Hi guys!

Just bought a 2006 magnetic grey Prius last week, with only 110k miles on it! I really got a great deal from a friend at work. I plan to make a few upgrades, like shark fin antenna, window vent visors, H&R or tanabe DF210 springs, KYB gr2 shocks (mine feel like they need to be replaced anyways), front lip, k&n air filter, tanabe strut tower bar and subframe brace.

The big question is what wheels will fit?

    Avid.1 AV-50 17x8 et35
    Primax 770 17x8 et40
    TSW nurburing 17x8 et35/45
    F1R F23 17x8.5 et35

I plan on running 215/45r17, and the car is being used for 5hour weekend roadtrips. How wide can I roll around with minimal rubbing?

Or does anyone have pictures of their gen II with wheels in the listed widths and offsets?

I believe an 8" wide wheel isn't gonna fit without major surgery to your fenders, or at least a 50mm backspace. I have 6"x7" wheels w/ 40mm backspace and if I hit a big dip the front tires rub just a little.

Welcome and congrats! My '06 only has 49k miles; bought it from a little ol' lady. Anyways, just FYI that going with bigger and non-LRR tires will hurt your fuel economy.

motegi traklites are one of the lightest wheels I could find in my price range (used). I bought bridgestone LRR tires; I would not recommend them if you drive hard. traction isn't very good. gonna replace w/ mich or conti.

215's should fit if you get the offset right. I tried 225's on 18x8s that I bought off craigslist for a few days and they rubbed pretty badly on the outside of the tire, but there was more room on the inside. The aerodynamics of the vehicle were designed such that there's not much additional room on the outside of the tire for more tread, but more on the inside. 8 inches is probably too wide, I'd stick to 7 or 7.5. I think there's a thread or two on PC with more info about what other's were able to fit.

    Some other notes:

    1. Do your research before using an oiled K&N filter. The oil likes to drip down and clog up the MAF sensor. I personally wouldn't use a K&N filter on a Prius.
    2. For the best cornering suspension upgrade for the money, upgrade the sway bars. Most get an aftermarket 24mm rear bar (TRD or progress) for a Corolla (~$150) and then get a 24mm front bar from a junkyard Corolla/Matrix (or parts store online, can be found for ~$60-70 shipped). There are several threads on this.

Yea, after reading a few thread I saw 17's lose as much as 7! It seems buying good tires helps a ton. I didn't realize that about k&n filters, thanks. The swaybars are a must, might be my first upgrade

How would these fit? 17x7, offset 35. Hoping they won't poke to far

17x7 with 35ET you should be good as long as you dont lower the car. If you do, you may need to roll yuur fenders. Can easily be done for about $25 per fender.

Check out the Private Sale forum: Private Sales | PriusChat

You might find a few of the items your looking for there.

I would try to find 45mm offset or even 50mm with 17" wheels. if the 50mm is a little too much, you can use a 5mm spacer.
