Replaced my hybrid battery on my 2011 Prius. Installed easily, started well, tested w Dr. Prius, 80% capacity. All good.

Used Dr. Prius app to clear P0A80 code from prior battery. And then disconnected the 12 V battery per Dr. Prius instructions. Waited five minutes, reconnected battery, and now the vehicle won’t start at all. Get a check hybrid system warning on dash display and the triangle of death. So, turning "On" but not going into Ready state.

Disconnected everything, then reconnected. No change. Charged 12v. Still no change.

    Help. Any ideas?

On the Gen 2, any time you disconnect the 12v battery, it normally takes 2 presses of the power button to start the car. First press fills the dash with waring lights, second press resets everything and car comes to life. I don't remember if Gen 3 is the same.

Installed 2014 Prius battery in 2011 Prius (11/10 and after).

    1. Prior battery had P0A80, and overheating indication on Dr. Prius.
    2. NEW battery initially showed only P0A80, likely left from first battery, then disconnected battery and reconnected.
    3. Now, new battery shows P0A80, P0AC0 (2x ?), and P0A0D, and won’t advance to ready state.

    Very confused.

Thanks, gave it a try, but just turns 12v battery on and off.

You probably did not install the safety switch completely, missing third step. Step 2 pulls the switch into place. Step three inserts a small wire across two contacts to signal the ecu that the switch is installed. No step three=ecu thinks the switch is still on your workbench.

here's the Gen 2, Gen 3 is similar, just switch is in a different location. Or you forgot to connect a couple wires.

You are absolutely right. I had forgotten step three while testing a few things. However, once correcting that, I still have P0A80 and P0AC0 codes, and no ready state.

Can any help be found from the Dr Prius community. Thought I'd suggest them since those were mentioned as instructions followed.
They should have, or should add possible side issues that can show up after attempting a HV pack swap, like this post thread suggests.

Begs the question why the Dr Prius method was used for the pack swap in the first place,
if not much is known regarding the support available with the app and/or the instructions that were followed.

what happens when the codes are cleared?
    have you looked into techstream?

So everything worked normally when you installed the 2014 battery. Then you disconnected the 12v battery and it hasn't worked since? Was anything else touched other than the 12v battery?

Thought I’d give a heads up on what I found, maybe it will help the next person. In short, the battery cables to the 12 V battery cannot just be firmly in place. They must be very tightly clamped. Otherwise it throws a few codes.

Again, thanks for all those who tossed in their two cents.

I'm glad you found the reason for the codes and my apologies for the posts above not being helpful, probably because I didn't read all your posts in this thread and forgot that a big part of the dr prius community is priuschat. I hope your pack swap is successful, no thanks to my input. sorry.
