Ok so the dealer was unable to replicate my problem. But they are going to install the parts for the TSB anyways. Funny thing is that when i went to pick it up, after sitting only probably 7 hours or so since they parked it and were done working on it. I go to start it, and bam it does it. Figures. Oh well. Parts should be in within a week, I'll update with what parts are installed.

This is a vid of my car this morning. It had been driven all day yesterday and sat outside for approximately 45 minutes while I swept up sand and gravel tracked in from the melting snow. I let the IC engine start and idle for 10 - 15 seconds before I moved it back into the garage. Outside temp at that time was 42°. My heated garage temp this morning was 62°. The vid shows the garage door being opened first and then you will hear the engine when it starts. This is with the 37054 intake manifold. What bothers me more now is that it took so long to smooth out this morning, about twice as long as "normal". Does anyone know of a way to get higher up in the food chain @ Toyota.usa? Obviously the person that I'm dealing with is only documenting our conversations and has no other authority and cannot do anything else or send me to anyone else. ......well, I don't know how to get the stupid video out here. I'll just have to try something else.

I experienced the knocking for the first time! it took 1 year and 4 months.
I happened to be in NY during the last big snow storm and all through it I did not go anywhere. Two days later after digging out from the 14" of snow, I finally started up and let the car warm up. For the first few minutes the engine was "knocking". It was also 7F out which is by far the coldest this car has ever been in.

Yes this is exactly what mine sounded like too from my post above but it went on much longer before smoothing out

    Good job capturing the video.
The more video exposure online, maybe the more priority to fix it by Toyota.

As an update to my recent visit to the dealer they called me today regarding this TSB parts availability, they stated the TSB parts are on back order likely will not arrive until the end of this month at the earliest. So either lots of people rushed to the dealer during the recent cold snap or they just didn't make a lot of these parts in general.

anyone consider getting together and spamming Toyota about this on twitter or facebook? That much negative attention on it on social media might bring it to light?

i took the first step and tweeted at toyota and at priuschat so if you follow either you should see it on your feed. i pointed htem to this thread and stated their tsb doesn't work that they should check the link out

steve you should tweet them your video. comapnies don't like negative attention though social media i bet we can get their attention real quick maybe we make our own hashtag for it????

I'm old...I don't tweet, twit, or whatever it is. My wife says I'm lucky I can log on to f/b. I did put it on youtube yesterday (I'm not sure how I figured that out) and decided that today I would search for all I can find that has Toyota in the name and send the link. I do have another appointment with Jeff Wyler Toyota next Tuesday a.m. for them to try to start this dog and pony show all over.

As soon as you post anything negative it shows up then, if you go back to your own page and go back to Toyota USA...it's gone! At least that happened twice in 5 minutes.

I've heard that in some contries, if you post something bad about VW, they go after you. I believe one of the places was Australia.

That's laughable. If companies can't take heat they shouldn't get on social media

I was at the dealer last week here in Washington State and talking to the Service Rep about how the knocking still happens even after the TSB was performed. He stated that Toyota told them to stop performing the TSB since it's not working and is costing them $$. Anyone else hearing or can confirm the same thing in their area?

My wife asked a very interesting question on the way home from church this a.m. Has anyone here, or do you know someone who has) traded their Prius through a Toyota dealer? Are they "holding" trade-in value down (more so than usual) due to the noise isue?

they hold the value down to make as much as they possibly can period. 99% of buyers will not have heard of this problem.

hi brian, yes it was more or like the same. in fact, in my video the noise was a little bit loudly, since I was in garage (with bonnet closed) and maybe there was more echo.
ah, by the way, the check engine signal on the instrument panel was off
anyway, tomorrow I bring my car to Toyota Switzerland, they do a deep diagnostic and some measurements.
Last, but not least, I checked on the Toyota Touch hidden menu and there is the following error code recorded: B1585: "Dim Panel Decrease Input Circuit Short To Battery" (it's related to body, not powertrain)

After posting my video on Toyota USA's facebook page TWICE, only to have it disappear TWICE, I received the following message from someone at their site: "Thanks for the post Steve and sorry for the concerns. We can only recommend working with your local Toyota dealerships for continued support and troubleshooting of the issue. An option you have is to take your vehicle to multiple Toyota dealerships for alternate opinions." (emphasis mine). Not to sound stupid, but why in the world would I or anyone else that has already had the IM replaced under t-sb 0012-10 go running all over hell's half acre knowing there's nothing else that Toyota says can be done? Duh!
