    Hi All,

Hybrids are a new world to me at this point in time. I've been reading obsessively for at least a month to try and familiarize myself with these cars. I have a lot to learn..... Checked out a car today and have an agreement to have it delivered in a week. While I was there I ran my obd2 BlueDriver code reader (see attached report) and downloaded the torque pro app late last nightand added the hybrid battery voltage blocks (see pic)

All the blocks were within .1 of each other. I'm thinking this meas the traction battery is ok. Someone please take a look at the values and give me your opinion if I am correct or not.

The codes I read on the BlueDriver concern me the most B0178 shows up under "Tire pressure warning system code" "Air Conditioning code" "remote Keyless Entry code" "Immobilizer Code" and "Power Code"

    B1400 "Air Conditioning codes"
    B1271 "Gateway Code"
    P1378 "Body Code"
    C1241 "Antilock Brake System Code"

I can still walk away from the agreement, however, the car runs fantastic, Starts and stops at redlights, and no dash lights were on.

    welcome!

did you run the hybrid battery test under load?

the other codes may be nonsense if everything is working. how many miles on her?

I didn't run any specific load test. I just observed the blocks while it was running. They were all 15.7v and varied by .1 or less. It's got 127K on it. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and I got what I believe to be a good deal @ $4600.

I have a vehicle with similar codes littered throughout several categories just like this. The B0178 shows up but it seems ambiguous. I'm thinking that perhaps the hybrid battery has a bad cell in it and needs repair. Not sure what to do in order to make the issue more clear, what further tests to try, etc.

are you using a prius aware scanner? once you have the correct codes and subsides, you can go to tech info.toyota.com and download the service manual with code troubleshooting tree.

    all the best!(y)

Someone could have reset the codes but not disconnected the battery. That’s why the scanner could see them but the lights are not on. Look around this site on how to check the standing battery voltage. A low 12v battery could cause some of those codes. That c1241 code could be an expensive fix it it was not caused by low battery voltage.

There are several different tech stream Toyota cables listed, how do you know which is correct one?

You can interrogate all 11+ ECUs that are on the Gen 2 Prius.
