NY Governor orders regulatory action to require all LDVs sold in state to be zero-emissions by 2035 - Green Car Congress

Gov. Hochul has directed the State Department of Environmental Conservation to take major regulatory action and require all new cars, pickup trucks, and SUVs sold in New York State to be zero emissions by 2035. Stepped regulations are ZEVs are to be 35% of new LDV sales by 2026, 68% by 2030 and 100% by 2035.

This follows on the heels of new legislation introduced to require future lawn car and landscaping equipment to be zero emissions by 2027.

They've already started. NYSDOT purchased 98 Prius Primes for business usage since 2018.

If I lived in NY, I would want them to report, annually, on how many miles were gas and how many electric.
Any responsible organization that was requiring these to be bought would want to know that, so they must be collecting the data and have plenty of places to plug them in every night.

Well I routinely go by a couple of DOT regional shops when doing my running around. Sure enough the Primes are plugged in when I go by after closing or if they happen to be parked. That's the other thing NYSDOT got when they purchased the Primes, L2 chargers.

Weird but within 2/10 of mile are 2 multi mega watt solar farms as well as another one about 5 miles down the other side of me and I'm on the same line. :D That being said, there's a NG/Biomass 9.6 MW cogeneration plant about 2 miles further on the other side of the solar farms. I think I'm good.

I'll be long gone by the time the last gas car goes by my house since the average age of a car is what, 12 years. That average age will probably creep up with the cost of EVs and cars in general. There's still a lot of years where new gassers will still be for sale and running beyond then. The law says nothing about used gassers either.
