MPG was the only reason I even looked at a Prius, after driving one not much I don't like about it. So far very happy happy happy!

This is the order of the things that attracted me to the Prius:

I like the looks of the mini mini van as some people call the v.
Rear passenger space and comfort rivals front passenger space and comfort of some cars.
My gas savings AND lower maintenance costs help to offset the higher monthly payments.
    Toyota reliability.
    Battery warranty.

The fact it was a Toyota. My car before was a 2001 Camry. Should mention that it was my first car too. She gave me a great 10 year run. Very reliable! And also the tech features and the mpg. Roughly saving 100 bucks in gas a month which is amazing!

Two lemons and one too many high-drama repairs at BMW. Unreliability interfered with all three of our special holidays this year so I kicked a field goal and went for a car I figured would be more than a Bavarian paperweight.

    Let's see..
Gas Mileage, hybrid coolness, design of the body, push button start... I love how quiet the cab is, My jeep was a loud beast, inside and out. It was fun to drive but not fun on gas with a looonng commute in California :p

My wife's Celica is still going strong at 180k miles. We figure once it gives up on life we'll get another Toyota. Loyalty discount here we come! :D

The reason I bought a Prius is because I live in Chicago, among the highest gasoline prices in the nation. Now that I have the Prius it is not only economical to drive gasoline wise but the oil only has to be changed every 10,000 miles. It has no fan belts to replace, the brakes should last about 100,000 miles.

Where are you getting the 10,000 miles number for oil? I never follow the 3,000 miles "recommendation" so when I saw in the owner's manual every 5,000 miles it made sense to me. I'm curious! It will save me money if I only have to change it every 10,000 miles.

I have a 2011 Prius Two. On page 56 in the WARRANTY & MAINTENANCE GUIDE book, it specifies the oil change interval is 10,000 miles or 12 months. It looks like you may own a Prius C. The interval may or may not be the same as my regular Prius Two.

I was sold when I pulled up to first stop sign and ICE turned off and I was sitting in comfort and quiet with A/C running.

The oil change interval is 10,000 miles for the C also, using 0W20 synthetic oil. The in-between service at 5000 miles is just tire rotation.

Thanks! Sounds good, does the dealership do synthetic oil? I have the whole 2 years free thing from the dealer.

Yes, the maintenance schedule requires synthetic oil on all current US cars, and that's what the dealers use.

I'll admit that I was quite skeptical of the Prius at first, but then my Dad picked up a Prius C for himself - and then a Prius V for his girlfriend. After witnessing the mileage in their cars, I was sold. I really like the look of the Gen-II Prius.

What I really love is the technology. My 2008 Prius has all of the features a high end car does (the only thing missing is leather - which I actually prefer now). I love the techy gadgets.

Toyota reliability paired with the low costs of routine maintenance was another bonus. I came from an older Mercedes, so the Prius makes my wallet VERY happy. Overall I'm loving my new Prius and I plan to keep it for a very long time.
