So I know there is a front of engine battery like most cars have. And there is a lithium-ion battery pack in the back of the car. When I drive I see the battery field on the center console split into 2 parts - the top EV (electric only) battery portion that gets me between 25 miles and 30 miles. Then when that is out I have the bottom portion that I see goes down a tiny bit but recharges as I coast or break (I call that portion my hybrid battery). So my stupid question is, is the hybrid battery that gets charged during the regenerative breaking process the same as the EV battery or is there another unique battery? My thought is that it's just another portion of the EV battery but I can't really tell.
