Well, after starting this thread exactly 4 months ago, I just placed a reservation for a Leaf. Opted for the loaded one in silver. We'll see how it turns out!

Whoops, you're right! Had Volt on the mind. I'll likely reserve one of those, too when they make it available. Maybe we'll replace both cars this year. :)

Just thought I would throw in a few things: The LEAF will be made in Japan in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, NOT 2013, it will be made in TN. The bottomline for me is simple: Hybrids use GASOLINE which supports BIG OIL...BEV's when charged with renewable sources are emissions FREE and will help us put the hurts on foreign oil supplies! I'm planning on charging my LEAF with a 6-6.5KW solar/pv system. :)

Eh, either way it's at least a couple years off. Do you have a reference for the 2012 date?

I'm going to have to upgrade my PV system to make sure it's fully charged by my PV system - If I figure I drive 24 miles/day and the Leaf will use about 5 kWh to go those 24 miles, I'll need another 100 kWh/month of generation, or about 1 kW of panels.
