That link above is not for the Prime that @Andyprius1 has. He should have been more specific in his questions, especially in a Gen 4 thread.

Gen 2 plugin. @bwilson4web has called the Prime HSD Gen 4.5 since it is different than the Gen 4.

Our OEM third Gen rims are 17", and every winter I switch over to snows on the aforementioned 15" Corolla rims, no problems.

Too bad Toyota doesn’t know. PC is a open forum where any question or answers can be posted. If somebody is reading this. The subject is applicable to the 4.5 as well. Sometimes answers can be found in far off places too. This subject matter is also applicable to Prime ( 4.5 ) easiest thing to do, is if you don’t know, don’t answer. I will not be offended Again, my question was directed to Tracy. TY

I think Mendel answered your question on a possible spare tire. I also answered it by mentioning that I carry a spare from my 2005 Prius. Alll the dealers like to blow smoke and their statements are often totally erroneous.
The only way to get an accurate answer is to get a Toyota Prius spare donut and try it. If you can’t do it have somebody do it for you. These doughnut and rim combinations are available everywhere, especially junkyards. As for putting on better and newer tires that is also your choice, at most tire shops. Believe it or not
the junkyards know more about the Prius than the dealerships, and the salesmen know nothing.

Subject matter is nowhere to be found in OPs original post.

What country are you in? It would be helpful to fill that in on your profile, as we come from at least 30 countries on 6 continents - and car specifications vary wildly depending on country.

Middle East cars get a FULL-SIZE spare - so maybe you're not there. But I think they only offer 15" wheels. But they must have a storage space for a full-size spare there.

PRIUS tyres aren't performance tyres, but built for economy - and my understanding is that, combined with the relatively High Pressures specified, should be tougher than a low-profile sports tyre.

I thought that all PRIUS had a jack and wheel-brace - have others with 17" wheels got a jack? You should be able to get a Gen4 PRIUS jack and brace from a wrecking yard at least.

I don't see why a PRIUS donut spare won't fit your car? You might be able to source one, complete with the foam etc from a wrecking yard.

OK Andy sorry, Prime is slightly different story.
Although I think that's the problem with Prime...same frame...all Gen4 including Prime probably have the indent for the spare tire.

One guy showed a picture of the spare tire space under the Prime battery.
You just have a huge battery on top of it.

Outside Diameter of both 215/45R17 and 195/65R15 is virtually identical. Width (obviously) is slightly different.

That's good to hear. Wonder if there is any difference between the 2nd and 3rd generation.

Not 100% sure, but I guess/believe second gen has same rim configuration, but the tire size is a little different. Third and fourth gen stock tire size is 195/65R15, whereas second gen is 185/65R15, which is is a slight reduction in tire outside diameter.

Only two white push/turn plastic pieces on each side of the foam at the hatch and two near the back seat hold it in, not a biggie to just look under the foam.
