No maps directions given when playing podcast

I have a 2015 Prius 3. Whenever I am playing music (ex from Spotify) and getting directions with my maps app (ex from google maps or Apple maps), I have no issues with the maps apps playing over the Bluetooth system and over the Bluetooth Spotify music. But if I switch to a podcast, even if I’m still playing it via Spotify, or the podcast app, there is just silence when the maps app is verbally “giving directions” (although it still pauses the podcast at the time when directions are playing - just no directions coming through the speakers). Anybody else experience this? Is there another app that works with podcasts/maps?
