No power to either power outlet in the car and it's not the fuses. Please help!!

    I recently purchased a used 2005 Prius and didn't realize at the time that both power outlets did not work. I found the fuses under the dash and replaced the ones that were bad, neither outlet worked. I then removed the panel under dash to see if the wires were loose, they weren't. While doing that I discovered 2 more fuses attached to the wiring, they were good. I was able to find a power meter to and checked the inside of the outlets themselves, it read no power. Does anyone have any suggestions, I can't afford to take to the shop right now, but I need a charger for my phone/gps since I'm in my car most of the day..... HELP!!!!

    welcome!

    if you had to replace fuses, that means something was causing them to blow. you might have shorted wires somewhere, and will have to trace them to the power source.
    i assume you are aware that the outlets are only on when the car is ready.

    The outlets should work even in accessory mode, car does not have to be ready.

    There are some fuses in the engine compartment too. See if any of those are blown.

    Not sure if the situation is the same, but this happened in a Suzuki XL7 one time. My son caused both to fail somehow. I think for safety they have a built in overload where the wires connect to the outlet. I had to replace both outlets with new ones. I replaced them with aftermarket USB sockets since we don't smoke.

    Yes, if you look at the back of the outlet, under the connector is a fusible link, unfortunately it does not visibly burn. Take the voltmeter an check the power at the wires (back probe the connector) and then check both sides of the link.

    Thanks for clarifying. The pic helps a lot. If the leads have power, it's definitely the outlets.

    We did use a volleyed and I showed no power. I so change out the fuses anyway to see if that works, if not I'll change out the outlets. We true to follow the wires, but could only be so far. I found the fuses in the hood and they all tested good...

    The power outlets are run by fuses 19 & 21 in the dash fuse box (15A) in a 2005.
