Just wanted to make sure that my understanding is correct in that I must use an updated external gps or waze these days if I want current maps. I thought I read somewhere that current updated factory maps are no longer being offered. Is this all correct?

    Thanks.

It depends on what year model you have, probably.
For a vehicle that is 15 years old, it wouldn't surprise me.
Have you asked a dealers parts department ?

Correct, at least a couple of years old and costs a couple hundred dollars for the disc.

A friend just upgraded to another refurbished garmin with lifetime maps (NA only), it has all the bells and whistles for around $100.

Thanks. We have a Garmin with all the bells and whistles.....wife loves it to death actually. I just thought it would be neat to have an integral gps that could still be updated. I think we might actually have the latest disc from previous owner. Yep 15 yrs old. It is a 2005.
