As far as I know, a car with a properly functioning brake system should never need a brake fluid top-up. It's normal for fluid level in the reservoir to drop as pad thickness reduce. And then: when pads are spent, and new pads installed, pistons pushed back to accomodate them, the level reservoir returns to top. Topping up brake fluid is a fools errand, will lead to overflow when new pads are installed.

The only instance where top up of brake fluid is warranted is if there is a leak in the system, and then only as a stop-gap meaure, and the source of the leak should be found and fixed asap.

Either way, that place is incompetent.

Also, with coolant: stick with the specificed Toyota Fluid, use nothing else. Just to be on the safe side.
