brake actuator assembly was replaced under warranty.
    this noise started sometime after.
    flushed brake fluid. no help.
if i release the brake pedal just enough where car won't roll, the noise goes away temporarily.
    any idea what's wrong?

Is it coming from one side or both, front or back?
If it is only coming from one wheel I would pull a wheel and take a look at it.

Hello, just had a similar experience. The repair shop was going to rebleed the brakes, when I brought the car in. I did several aggressive brake stops, up to 40 then full stops, enough to feel the antilock kicking in. It worked. Noise went away. I realize that's not an approved fix, but it worked in my situation. Your results may vary. ;)

maybe the brake actuator, hard to tell. definitely sounds like a pump or motor.

    are there any trouble codes?

Check for that noise outside of the car, with the hood raised. If it's the actuator/accumulator you'll hear it.

It sounds like the brake actuator as mentioned above one sure fire way to know is with the car not running but in ready mode press the pedal till you hear it let off quickly then press harder if the noise gets louder than before more than likely you have air in the system
