The 2010 Gen 3, Prius + and Lexus CT200h all use the same power plant, producing the same bhp, the injection is the same on all three, the only difference between them is the final drive ratio of the differential.

The GS450h uses the D4-S fuel injection system. It is a dual injection system that incorporates Direct Injections with Port Injection. The system will switch between both systems depending on driving conditions.

    Old thread I know...

but I'm trying to figure if our 2010 Prius has direct injection (I don't know which kind of injection is meant by "same" in the above answer)...I'm trying to figure if we have the potential in our 2010 Prius for massive amounts of carbon deposits in the EGR cooler and valve and intake system in general.

We have 225k miles, and we get engine "shudder" for a few seconds on cold startup...and I've read that one cause could be a very clogged EGR system, but I suppose only if it's direct injection?

We've had the intake manifold and spark plugs replaced, and we are still getting the shudder and occasional check engine lights with cylinder 1 or miltiple cylinder misfires.

Also, can someone tell me of the 2015 is also direct injection?

    Thanks...

    Your 2010 is not direct-injected.

However it could still have a clogged EGR circuit.

You appear to be conflating an induction buildup problem with an exhaust buildup problem. Similar problem, different set of pipes.

None of the Prii so far are direct injection. They’re all port injected.
